Helena Greenwood MA Cantab BSc(Hons)Ost PgDip(OCF) Helena has been qualified as an osteopath for over 10 years; prior to that she completed a degree in Natural Sciences (Physiology & Pharmacology) at Cambridge University and had a successful career for 12 years in IT technical sales. As an osteopath, Helena believes in the ability of the body to adapt for stresses, strains & traumas in everyday life, and the ability of osteopathy to facilitate that adaptation where the body's ability has been compromised by, for example, repetitive overuse of an area, poor posture, compromised circulation, extreme physical strain of injury or accident, birth compression in an infant, weight gain & posture change of pregnancy, decreased mobility arising from occupation or arthritis etc. Helena assesses the body's response to these factors & treats using a variety of approaches (massage, manipulation, cranio-sacral techniques) as well as giving advice on activity or specific exercises, lifestyle changes etc. to help prevent reoccurence or manage a condition better. She has undertaken significant postgraduate study in Cranio-sacral osteopathic assessment & techniques, which she also teaches at postgrad level; she has also taught massage & manipulative techniques at undergraduate level at the British School of Osteopathy for 7 years. Helena currently has a successful practice of her own in Ockley & a 2nd practice with a colleague of similar experience & expertise in Reigate. She also applies the same prinicples to animals, predominantly dogs & horses, either on site or at Ash Barn Veterinary Surgery in Ockley.
